Owned by the Gorkys since 2007, the closure comes after careful consideration of the market's future. The market was known for offering 55 types of sausages, including weisswurst and Nurnberger. In a statement, the Gorkys said, "To our loyal customers, thank you for your unwavering support, your smiles, and the stories you’ve shared with us." The market has been part of many family traditions and community gatherings over the years, as stated by WCVB.
According to Karl’s Sausage Kitchen on their Facebook page, the restaurant will close permanently on January 18 after 67 years of operation. In their announcement, the Gorkys thanked their staff: "To our dedicated staff, thank you for your hard work, passion, and commitment to making Karl’s Sausage Kitchen a welcoming and cherished place." They also stated, "Though we are closing our doors, the memories and connections we’ve made will remain with us forever." Customers are invited to visit before the closure.
