Euless City Manager Loretta Getchell has officially announced her retirement after a notable 27-year tenure with the municipality. With roots that grew deep into civic life beginning in 1997 as Director of Finance, Getchell advanced through various roles before she was appointed the eighth City Manager in 2015. Her legacy is one marked by cornerstone projects like Glade Parks and Founders Parc, as well as significant upgrades across the city’s facilities and infrastructure. Her departure, set for January 31, was confirmed at a city council meeting.
Throughout her years of public service, Getchell was instrumental in guiding Euless through a host of transformative endeavors. Her adept leadership has visibly reshaped the city, with her name being tacitly imprinted upon the Library renovation, construction of new Fire Stations, and the ongoing foundation of a new Animal Shelter. An appreciated figure in the local government, she managed to significantly contribute to Euless’s growth and renaissance. According to the City of Euless, Getchell expressed her gratitude to colleagues and city officials, anticipating the city's prosperity in her absence.
The baton of city management has been swiftly passed to Deputy Manager Chris Barker, whose tenure is set to commence come February 1. The January 14 City Council Meeting saw Barker’s appointment, ensuring a seamless transition of leadership. The community and officials will join together to extend gratitude to Mrs. Getchell for her dedicated service, as she chooses to now dedicate herself more to family life after nearly three decades of public service.
