Early yesterday, a family outing took a turn for the unexpected as two adults and two children found themselves in perilous waters near Thompson's Boathouse at the foot of Virginia Avenue NW. The DC Fire and EMS Department rapidly reported to the scene after the vehicle they were in plunged into the murky depths.
Having bravely escaped the sinking vehicle before the first responders' arrival, the family was already out of the water, fighting against the cold and the shock. All four family members were transported to a nearby hospital where they were evaluated for any injuries sustained during the incident.
