
A three-vehicle collision in Palm Desert last night resulted in one fatality and minor injuries to another driver. The incident occurred on Wednesday, around 9:46 p.m. on Country Club Drive, west of El Dorado Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station, upon arrival at the scene, discovered the cars in the westbound lanes, with one driver pronounced dead at the spot.
The Palm Desert Traffic Team is looking into the events leading up to the collision. Traveling east in the westbound lanes, a vehicle collided with two others that were headed west, the office said in a statement. Paramedics transported one driver to a local hospital, suffering from minor injuries. The driver who died's name has been withheld, pending notification of their family.
The investigation into the crash prompted closures at the intersections of Country Club Drive with El Dorado Drive and Desert Falls Drive in Palm Desert, as detailed by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The roads have since been reopened. At this early stage, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
