On the morning of January 12, a road rage dispute escalated to gunfire in an unincorporated area of Moorpark, leading to the arrest of Vincent Parrish Vargas. Vargas, a Fillmore resident, is accused of shooting at another driver during the altercation on Grimes Canyon Road. According to a news release, the victim, who has not been named, managed to escape uninjured despite several shots being fired and striking the vehicle.
After obtaining the license plate number of Vargas' vehicle, the victim contacted Sheriff's Dispatch. Simi Valley Police Department officers later located the suspect in the 2900 block of Tapo Canyon Road. Armed with a handgun later seized as evidence, Vargas had fled the scene only to be apprehended shortly thereafter by deputies, as reported by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

In addition, a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) was issued against him, resulting in the confiscation of an additional firearm from his home. The nature of the firearms involved and the details surrounding the GVRO were not immediately disclosed.
