A recent social media post highlighted the team's skill and bravery in performing a challenging high-angle rescue to save an injured contractor. According to the Fort Worth Fire Department, the incident occurred last Friday when a contractor working on an electrical tower in Burleson came into contact with live wires, leading to his urgent need for rescue. The department's technical rescue team (TRT) and several other units responded to a call from the Burleson Fire/EMS Department to aid in the high-stakes operation.

When responders arrived, they found three contractors on top of a 150-foot tower. Two were unharmed, but the third had serious injuries and couldn’t climb down on his own. The crew had been working since around 9 a.m., and the height made the injured person’s situation more difficult. A careful plan was needed to safely get him down without putting anyone else in danger. Firefighters from Fort Worth and Burleson worked together to set up the necessary systems for the rescue. The process was physically demanding, made harder by cold temperatures and strong winds.

The rescue involved setting up rope, anchor, and pulley systems on-site, all while working against the clock to save the injured worker’s life. Despite the challenging conditions, the rescue teams handled the situation with professionalism and expertise. After several hours, the critically injured contractor was safely lowered to the ground, where emergency care was provided before being taken to a local burn facility for further treatment.
