With temperatures dipping, Fort Worth has issued a reminder about its robust cold weather resources designed to assist those without shelter. According to a recent release on the City of Fort Worth's website, several emergency shelters are gearing up to provide a warm refuge for individuals and families struggling with homelessness as colder weather approaches.
For individuals in need, the Presbyterian Night Shelter on 2400 Cypress St., and Union Gospel Mission at 1321 E. Lancaster Ave., stand ready. Prepared when the weather worsens, families, which must include at least one parent and child, can find shelter at The Salvation Army located at 1855 E. Lancaster Ave. Residents, when beds are full at the primary locations, will be guided to the other emergency shelter locations where additional overflow beds get activated.
Residents can learn if the overflow shelters have been activated by calling 311 and pressing 9. This system ensures that the city's shelter capacities stay in step with the increasing demand during harsh weather conditions. This information was outlined in the release as part of the city's overarching approach to support the vulnerable population during this critical period.
