
Fort Worth is gearing up to witness a historical moment as Jesus "Jay" Chapa prepares to take the oath as the city's first Hispanic city manager. This significant milestone reflects the city's rich cultural diversity. According to the City of Fort Worth, the swearing-in ceremony will be tomorrow morning, January 28, at Old City Hall, 200 Texas Street.
Chapa steps into his new role as the leader of a city on the rise, with Fort Worth recently laying claim to the title of the fastest-growing large city in the nation, having overtaken Austin to become Texas’s fourth-largest city, the municipality boasts more than 7,400 employees and well over 8,100 authorized positions it's a challenge that Chapa appears ready to embrace. Chapa's ascendance is a nod to the changing tides of leadership and representation, set against the backdrop of a city that aspires to reflect the faces of its residents in the halls where decisions shape their lives.
In anticipation of the event, a media availability has been arranged for 9:30 a.m. the day before the ceremony. This will give the press a chance to interview Chapa before he assumes the role of city manager.
