As winter slowly gives way to the promise of spring, Fountain Hills residents can start planning their household clear-outs, with the 2025 Residential Bulk Waste Collection service set to kick off in March. This yearly cleanup event, handled by Republic Services, is designed to help locals dispose of the big stuff that just doesn't fit in the regular trash bins.
The 2025 schedule published by Fountain Hills outlines a single collection day for each of the town's nine zones, starting from March 5 through to April 30. It's crucial, for those in the Fountain Hills community to take note: bulk pickup this year is strictly a one-day affair for each designated zone.
If you've got furniture gathering dust or old appliances taking up precious garage space, now’s the time to prep them for disposal. Just make sure that any appliances with Freon® have it removed before curbside placement, according to the Town of Fountain Hills. Bundles of branches can also be picked up, but keep them under 4 feet in length and 24 inches in diameter.
There are, however, items that won't make the cut. Republic Services won't be hauling away hazardous household waste such as chemicals or paint, nor will they accept loose yard waste like leaves or grass. Weighty construction materials and bulky items like bricks and concrete are also off the list, not to mention any untaped glass or metal objects, as per the Town of Fountain Hills.
Heeding the collection guidelines ensures a smooth process for everyone involved. To avoid any mishaps, keep your bulk waste within a 6 cubic yards limit, which is about the size of a load for a small pickup truck. And here's where the timing matters – don’t put items out too early or too late. The official word is to set out your bulk waste "no earlier than the weekend before your scheduled date and no later than 6 a.m. on collection day," as per the Fountain Hills announcement.
