Motorists in Garner will need to adjust to a new traffic pattern on N.C. 50 (Benson Road) starting yesterday. The changes follow construction work by the N.C. Department of Transportation to accommodate ongoing bridge construction.
According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, the N.C. 50 bridge over U.S. 70 has been reconfigured to a two-lane road, eliminating the center lane to create a safer construction environment and reduce traffic shifts.
This new traffic pattern will remain in place until the project is completed in fall 2027. The N.C. Department of Transportation urges drivers to exercise caution and remain alert while traveling through the construction area.
