A tragic incident unfolded yesterday afternoon when a Genesee County woman lost her life in a vehicle accident on U.S. 10 in Midland County. Candice Sanborn, 56, was identified as the deceased. The crash occurred at approximately 3:42 p.m. near West Shaffer Road in Warren Township, as reported by ABC12 News.
Details provided by the Midland County Sheriff's Office indicate that Sanborn was navigating her vehicle through snow conditions when control was lost, leading the car to veer off the roadway, enter a ditch, and ultimately roll over. An accompanying 29-year-old male passenger from Genesee County suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The authorities cited speed "too fast" for road conditions as a factor in the incident.
Further information from the Midland County Sheriff's Office clarified the model of the vehicle, a 2008 Dodge Ram, and the nature of the preliminary investigation, including that no evidence currently indicates alcohol or drugs as contributing factors. However, toxicology results are pending and will be a part of the final report to the Midland County Prosecutor's Office.
The scene of the accident saw first responders from Coleman Community Fire Department and MyMichigan EMS working alongside sheriff's office personnel, with the Clare County Sheriff's Office assisting in notifications.
