As communities across the nation pause to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the City of Germantown is joining the observance with city office closures and changes to service schedules. In line with this act of respect, the Germantown Community Library and all city administrative buildings will not be open on Monday, January 20, as reported by the official city website.
The city is also making adjustments to its waste collection schedule. According to an announcement by the City of Germantown, there will not be garbage, recycling, or yard debris collection on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Subsequently, the remainder of the week will experience a one-day delay in service to accommodate the holiday schedule. Citizens usually serviced on Monday should anticipate pick-up on Tuesday and so on, with Friday’s collection moved to Saturday.
Residents are reminded to follow the revised bin schedule to ensure smooth operations. Due to the delays, waste collection will continue through Saturday, January 25. The city has expressed gratitude for the public's understanding as it honors an important day in American history, recognizing the impact and teachings of Dr. King.
