In the heart of Gilbert, local residents are getting a chance to greenify their domains without guzzling the precious H2O. The town's Water Conservation team is rolling out some no-cost workshops that get into the nitty-gritty of lush, water-wise backyards. Given that the Colorado River is more of a trickle these days, learning to cut back on the aqua is pretty much a community must-do. Over at Gilbert's official website, they emphasize the outdoor gulp as the main glug of residential water use.
The educational series comes packaged in four different Thursday night sessions, commencing February 6 with "Landscape Watering by the Numbers." This opener promises to teach the art of just-right watering. Following up on February 13, there's a deep dive into programming irrigation controllers—a surefire way to stop your water bill from hitting the stratosphere when summer comes a-knocking, as per the Town of Gilbert.
Folks who are battling with their sprinklers can look to the February 20 workshop, appropriately tagged "Maximize Your Watering System." And to wrap up the month, Gilbert's own water saver squad will showcase the ins and outs of their Conservation programs on February 27, handing out advice on curtailing outdoor water splurges.
For those keen on popping by, the whole shindig takes place in the Shakespeare Room at the Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road. While it won't cost a penny, your spot needs a reservation. Seems like Gilbert's residents are in for a treat, too, with a raffle at each session doling out an 8-station Rachio Smart Controller for some lucky lawn lovers. Details on the town's water wise crusade can be dug up over at their website.
