Wisconsin's own Gov. Tony Evers has shaken up the local judiciary by appointing seasoned attorney Gregory Jerabek to the Wood County Circuit Court, as reported on Wednesday by the state's official communication channels. Taking over Branch 1 following Judge Gregory J. Potter's retirement, Jerabek is set to complete a term which will end on July 31, according to the Office of the Governor.
Jerabek, a fixture at the Nash Law Group, S.C. in Wisconsin Rapids since 2005, arrives at the bench boasting a broad legal pallet that includes bankruptcy, civil litigation, family law, criminal defense, and estate matters which both demonstrates a keen grasp over the intricate tapestry we call law and has been an integral part of the Wood County community. His experience has been acknowledged by Gov. Evers, who notes in a statement, "Greg Jerabek’s legal experience and extensive involvement in the local community and area will be important assets in his work on the bench serving the people of Wood County," as reported by the Office of the Governor.
The local legal fraternity has shown support, with Wood County Circuit Court Judge Nicholas Brazeau Jr. affirming Jerabek's appointment. "As an attorney, Greg has distinguished himself as one dedicated to solving issues and looking for practical solutions to complex problems," Jerabek was praised by Judge Brazeau Jr. in the Office of the Governor release, "Greg has an unwavering commitment to treating people fairly and with respect, and I know he will take that with him to the bench. I can’t think of anyone better suited for this position."
Jerabek, who earned his legal chops at the Hamline University School of Law after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, is not just known for his legal endeavors, he's also left his mark through service on assorted local boards, including the Boys and Girls Club and the United Way and even spent eight years of public service on the Wisconsin Rapids Police and Fire Commission. "I am deeply honored and grateful to accept this appointment to the Wood County Circuit Court – Branch 1," Jerabek expressed his gratitude and commitment, "It has been my privilege to serve the people of Wood County for the last 20 years, and I look forward to continuing that service. As a judge, I will serve with great enthusiasm, diligence, and above all, with the highest ethical standards," as per the Office of the Governor.
