An attempted homicide suspect was apprehended following a distressing incident at a Half Moon Bay property. According to a report from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, yesterday, Thomas J. Azevedo, a 43-year-old resident and business owner, was involved in an altercation that escalated to him allegedly pointing and attempting to discharge a firearm at an employee.
The dispute unfolded shortly before 7 p.m. at Azevedo Feed on Miramontes Point Rd. In the remote part of the property, it is alleged by the victim, an employee of the feed store, that under the pretense of fence repair, he was ensnared by his employer. According to the victim's account, Azevedo then brandished a firearm and, after pointing it at the victim, pulled the trigger, which, fortunately, failed to fire a bullet. Following a scuffle, the gun discharged into the air, thankfully resulting in no physical injuries.
Upon the victim's arrival at the Coastside Fire Protection District Station 40 to alert authorities of the crime, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene. As detailed in the sheriff's office statement, Azevedo was found on the property and taken into custody without further incident. In the wake of further investigation, a gun violence restraining order was promptly issued and served to the suspect, along with the seizure of more than a dozen firearms from Azevedo's possession.
Azevedo is now behind bars at the Maguire Correctional Facility, facing attempted homicide charges. For those with information, Detective D.
