A Harrison Township woman has been formally charged with second-degree murder after a fatal crash in Warren, Michigan. Diamond Leann Glenn, 27, is accused of causing the collision on December 21, 2024, that resulted in the death of 69-year-old Christopher Andelean. The crash occurred at Mound and Chicago roads involving Glenn's Ford Escape and Andelean's Chevrolet Silverado.
Warren police, responding to the scene, found Glenn on a sidewalk near the crash after witnesses identified her as the driver. When approached by an officer, Glenn appeared to be drunk and subsequently resisted, even going so far as to reportedly bite the officer. This violent encounter led to initial charges of assaulting a police officer. "After a thorough investigation by the Warren Police Department, we have determined that second-degree murder is the appropriate charge in this case," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido, according to CBS News Detroit.
Post-investigation findings warranted a significant increase in charges and an upturned bond from $100,000 to $500,000. Glaring in the face of these events, attempted failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death was also levied against her, according to ClickOnDetroit. The Macomb County officials, upon determining the charges, cited the severity of the entire incident – from the tragic loss of life to the aggressive interaction that followed.
Glenn's legal journey is set to continue with a court appearance for a probable cause hearing on January 23. If Glenn manages to post her now half-million-dollar bond, she will still be bound, tethered by GPS, as a condition of her release. Yet, as announced by Prosecutor Lucido, "Our hearts go out to the family of the victim during this incredibly difficult time," as reported by CBS News Detroit.
