A Henderson man, Kortez Travon Williams, 26, has been sentenced to 117 months in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and firearms offenses related to fentanyl distribution. He pleaded guilty on September 23, 2024, accepting responsibility for his actions.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, law enforcement, using a confidential informant, made several controlled narcotics purchases from Williams. Williams initially sold marijuana but later sold fentanyl-containing substances, providing nearly 900 dosage units in two transactions.

A search warrant executed at Williams' residence led to the seizure of 7,095 additional dosage units, a firearm, and $12,736 in cash. During the controlled purchases, Williams was always in possession of a visible firearm.

U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr. announced the sentencing, delivered by Chief U.S. District Judge Richard E. Myers II. The case involved several agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, local Henderson police, and the Vance County Sheriff's Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Casey L. Peaden prosecuted the case.
