
The City of Hickory is shining a little brighter thanks in part to the diligent efforts of residents and organizations recognized by the Community Appearance Commission for their contributions to the city's aesthetic appeal. At a reception held on Tuesday at Hickory City Hall's atrium, the Commission unveiled the recipients of the 2024 Beautification Awards, a program that spotlights the hard work and dedication invested into landscaping, renovating, and restoring properties within the city's domain, as reported by the city's news release.
The range of categories for the Beautification Awards included residential and non-residential landscapes and renovations to buildings, honoring those who have displayed exceptional stewardship over their properties, and the city also bestows recognition to litter cleanup crusaders for their efforts in maintaining Hickory's cleanliness as such, this year's winners include Jim and Betty Pritchard for Residential Landscape and Tabernacle Christian School for Non-Residential Renovation and/or Restoration, among others for their commendable work.
In total, nine awards were presented to local citizens and establishments, with winners such as Gary and Lisa Roseman being acknowledged for Residential Renovation and/or Restoration, and Plum Handsome receiving the nod for Non-Residential Landscape. The prestigious Litter Quitter Award was given to Ronald and Beverly Chapman, while the Beautifying Hickory Award went to two households: William and Teresa Scott, and Lance and Denise Sellers, each awarded for their respective contributions to bolstering the community's aesthetic and communal vibrance.
