Earlier today, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment on 60 North Nimitz Highway. According to KHON2, the emergency call was received at 1:36 a.m., and fire crews arrived on site within seven minutes. Upon entering the apartment, firefighters found a kitchen fire that had been largely contained by a single sprinkler.
The sprinkler system played a key role in preventing the fire from spreading, allowing firefighters to fully extinguish the blaze with a water extinguisher by 1:53 a.m., as reproted by KITV. After the fire was suppressed, HFD personnel quickly turned off the sprinkler system and conducted a thorough search of the property to confirm that no individuals were inside at the time of the fire.
Following the incident, an HFD Fire Investigator was called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Damage estimates have not been provided.
