An incident occurred on Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Halawa community center when Honolulu police responded to a fatal stabbing. According to Hawaii News Now, the call came in around 12:30 a.m. near Kalaloa Street. Officers discovered a 45-year-old woman lying on the ground, unresponsive and suffering from severe blood loss, alongside a 33-year-old woman with injuries to her leg.

Lt. Deena Thoemmes remarked, "Reportedly, a witness observed that the suspect was punching a female several times and fled the scene on foot. The witness then saw it was not punches but that she was being stabbed multiple times," according to a statement obtained by Hawaii News Now. Despite efforts by residents to assist and emergency services rendering aid, the older victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly before 3 a.m. The younger woman was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

The suspect, a 38-year-old man believed to have previously been in a relationship with one of the victims, had fled the scene before authorities arrived but was captured and arrested later that day. Based on information provided by The Star Advertiser, he is being held on charges of second-degree murder, and assault.

Local residents are shaken by the event, with one anonymous individual recalling to Hawaii News Now, "Heard the lady screaming. You can tell someone is in trouble when they scream like that." Details of the investigation remain ongoing as the suspect awaits further legal action.
