An injured hiker was rescued by the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) from the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala yesterday. As reported by the HFD, the 57-year-old female, experiencing illness and an inability to continue, prompted a distress call at 11:08 a.m. HFD swiftly responded with six units and 17 personnel.
The first responders arrived on the scene by 11:15 a.m., with a landing zone established in anticipation of search and rescue operations from the air. The ailing hiker was located by the rescuers at 11:29 a.m., who provided medical assessment and basic life support, while prepping her for extraction by Air 1. After securing her by 11:44 a.m., she was transferred to medical care, walking out safely, the last of her group, at 12:22 p.m., the other two hikers were able to do so on their own.
The hiker, after being airlifted, received further medical care where Emergency Medical Services took over, ensuring her safety and health following the incident.
