An injured worker found themselves in a perilous situation yesterday afternoon, suspended approximately 92 feet off the ground on an under-construction water tower in Indian Land, Lancaster County. According to WBTV, the individual was working along Harrisburg Road, just off Highway 521, when they were ensnared in safety netting high above the soil.

Upon arrival, firefighters initiated a high-angle rescue. As detailed in a social media update by Indian Land Fire District, they scaled the water tower to provide first aid, soon determining more help was necessary. Firefighters enlisted aid from Charlotte and Pineville to execute the strenuous rescue operation.

The multidepartment effort, including crews from Charlotte and Pineville, facilitated the delicate extraction of the injured party using a rope rigging system. The Indian Land Fire Department was first on the scene, discovering the worker had sustained a leg injury, as QC News reported. Two of their firefighters initially administered aid at the peak of the tower.

The collaborative rescue was successful, with Charlotte Fire deploying their high-angle box to secure the scene. The mission concluded with the worker brought safely to ground level by 6:08 p.m., where Lancaster EMS took over, subsequently transporting the individual to Atrium Main for treatment.
