The City of Jacksonville has officially announced the appointment of two new leaders poised to take on crucial administrative roles in city management. In a recent press release, Edward Terrell Blackmon and Anthony Prinz were named Assistant City Managers.
Edward Blackmon brings with him a wealth of expertise in local governance, particularly from his tenure as the City Manager for Henderson, North Carolina. His academic background includes a Masters of Business Administration from Montreat College, and as a University of North Carolina, Charlotte alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, his education complements his extensive experience in economic development, affordable housing, and urban planning. "We are excited to add Terrell and Anthony to our management team to fill these important roles," said City Manager Joshua Ray in a statement highlighting the significant appointments.
Anthony Prinz also boasts a strong record in public service, previously helming transportation and long-range land use planning projects. Holding a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Community and Regional Planning from Appalachian State University, Prinz's qualifications are tailored for his new role. Prinz, who has been a pivotal figure in the City's transportation services, also contributes to various boards and planning workgroups at both the city and state levels.
With these recent additions to the administration, the City of Jacksonville is poised to advance its initiatives in areas critical for development and public service. According to the same press release, Blackmon and Prinz are expected to assume their new roles with the City in January, 2025. Their combined expertise and leadership are anticipated to enhance the city's capacity to materialize the objectives championed by the City Council, fortifying the commitment to serve the community with renewed vigor.
