Jacksonville Beach residents and visitors should prep their wallets for a shift in parking norms as the city rolls out its paid parking program for 2025. Starting March 1, the city council has mandated paid parking on key streets near the beach, making free beachside spots a little harder to come by. The detailed schedule posted online by the City of Jacksonville Beach stipulates charges kicking in on Friday evenings through the late hours of Sunday night.
In a bid to organize traffic and presumably boost city funds, beach-goers will be met with a $4 charge for the first two hours of parking, with an incremental $2 tacked on for each additional hour. The daily maximum won't exceed $12, except for select holidays and special events when a flat rate of $15 comes into effect. As part of the city's effort to ease the transition, residents can secure free parking by registering via the Jacksonville Beach website or by attending in-person registration events slated for late February and early March.
For residents looking to avoid the paid parking hustle, registration for complimentary parking is straightforward. The City will host two events at Pablo Towers, 115 Third Street, South, where locals can bring their state-issued license and car registration to secure their spot. The dates to mark are February 25 and March 4, both sessions running from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, as per the official announcement on the City of Jacksonville Beach website.
