A routine response to a reported burglary by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) turned into a significant narcotics and firearms bust in Jacksonville, resulting in the arrest of a 25-year-old individual. On Monday, officers arrived at a residence in the 600 block of Staffordshire Drive E. to address the burglary report, only to discover the property doubled as a storage site for illegal substances and weapons. This information was detailed in a report by ActionNewsJax.
As per the JSO, what was initially believed to be a break-in led to the seizure of an arsenal and a drug trove including "7 firearms, 167 pounds of marijuana, 167 pounds of marijuana, 120.4 grams of marijuana oil," $7,660 in cash, and $10,000 in jewelry. These facts were mirrored in the reporting by First Coast News, adding that the suspect, identified as Sean Reed, had previously run afoul of the law on separate gun and drug charges earlier in 2024.
The sequence of events began unfolding when officers arrived at the scene, observing a broken second-floor window. Contact was made with the homeowner's brother, who was at the site and who then called Reed, granting authorities permission to enter the home. “While inside the residence, I observed a large amount of marijuana in a bag on the stove in plain view,” an officer detailed in the incident report, a description noted by ActionNewsJax.
Following the discovery, the Narcotics Tact Team was summoned, a search warrant was obtained, and a thorough examination of the premises ensued. This subsequent investigation was what led to the uncovering of the narcotics and weaponry, specifics which also appeared in a report by CBS12.
