According to a recent announcement, Jessica M. Rodriguez will take over as manager at the Orange County Medical Clinic. Her agenda focuses on improving access to healthcare for underserved populations. She's committed to increasing the clinic's visibility within the community and ensuring qualified patients know about the services available to them.
Backed by the support of Dr. Raul Pino, Rodriguez is tasked with executing a plan for enhanced community outreach and establishing new collaborative partnerships. In addition to this, Rodriguez will also be seeking grants intending to expand clinic services and prioritize preventative healthcare measures as per their mission statement, which reads "to enhance the quality of life of uninsured residents thru collaborative partnerships for the provision of exceptional and compassionate medical care;" effective strategies that propose a beacon of hope for those often left in the shadows of our systemic landscape. With her professional journey beginning in Puerto Rico before relocating to Orlando in 2012, Rodriguez is no stranger to hard work and innovation, having opened the inaugural AdventHealth Primary Care Plus Facility, which set a template for similar locations across Orange County, as detailed by Orange County Government Newsroom.
Her experience in healthcare management and business showcases a practitioner who keenly understands the intersection where operational efficacy meets the humane touch of patient care. Rodriguez aims to bring this balance to the historic clinic, which has served as a haven for the uninsured since 1936. In discussing her new role, Rodriguez told the OCFL Newsroom, "The ability to balance operational efficiency with patient care quality is a skill I’ll bring into this new role."
Among her immediate ventures is the deployment of a new mobile clinical unit, funded by a grant to extend services like preventative health screenings beyond the clinic’s walls and touching the lives directly within the community where the clinic serves, enriched by programs like the "Know Your Numbers" campaign, which offers critical blood pressure, cholesterol, and BMI screenings to tackle the pressing health issues, such as diabetes and hypertension, that a section of the clinic's patients battle against singlehandedly, these efforts denote a linchpin in the clinic's approach to healthcare.
