In a recent string of events in Knox County, law enforcement has apprehended two teenagers and provided insight into a separate case involving a fatal police shooting, as reported by local news outlets.
On Monday, detectives from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) arrested two individuals at a Walmart on Kinzel Way; a 17-year-old, whose identity remains protected due to being a minor, was caught alongside 19-year-old Elijah Hall, WVLT reports. They were facing a variety of charges, with the minor already having an array of outstanding charges from both the KCSO and Knoxville Police Department, including aggravated robbery and burglary, among others. The KCSO noted that the duo, found with fully automatic weapons, attempted to escape but were detained without further complications or injury.
The arrested teens—facing charges including prohibited weapons, drug possession for resale, reckless endangerment, child endangerment, and more—were targeted as part of an effort to address a blend of juvenile, narcotics, and organized retail crime issues in the area, according to WATE, which acknowledged that the KCSO Aviation Unit played a role in their apprehension and lauded the assistance received from the Knoxville Police Department.
In a separate yet related case, WBIR disclosed the details surrounding the investigation and subsequent death of 18-year-old Daevon Saint-Germain, who was killed after displaying a firearm when deputies searched his home earlier this month, Saint-Germain was reportedly associated with the "Murdaville Mafia" street gang and was investigated for selling drugs at school, with authorities locating firearms, large quantities of marijuana, and MDMA; the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the shooting, set to relay their findings to Knox County District Attorney Charme Allen.
