The tension between law enforcement and a suspect escalated to gunfire earlier this month, now leading to serious charges for one man in Knox County. As reported by WATE, Eugenio Abraham Solis-Klarks, 31, has been indicted by a Knox County Grand Jury, faced with attempted first-degree murder and employing a firearm during a dangerous felony. The indictment comes after an event that began with a traffic citation and spiraled into a dramatic pursuit.
On January 12, details emerged from authorities, per WBIR, revealing that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation alleged Solis-Klarks was being ticketed in Loudon County prior to initiating the chase. Leading Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers into Knox County, it ended near the Watt Road exit on I-40, ultimately causing a confrontation shrouded by the smoke of discharged firearms. While issuing a citation, authorities said Solis-Klarks drove away.
In the ensuing altercation, after Solis-Klarks allegedly exited his vehicle, shots were exchanged between him and a state trooper, with Solis-Klarks sustaining injuries. The Tennessee Bureau of Justice stated Solis-Klarks fired first, prompting the trooper to return fire in defense. He was served with the charges at the Knox County Detention Center, where he was already being held on prior charges by THP.
Adding to the gravity of Solis-Klarks' legal troubles, WVLT reported he was also being held for ICE, which could complicate his situation further. Stemming from that fateful chase on January 12 involving troopers, when Solis-Klarks fired at the troopers, he now finds the weight of the law pressing down upon him, holding the possibility of serious time behind bars.
