In a recent crackdown on drug-related activities, Vernon Johnson, a 54-year-old previously convicted felon, found himself behind bars once more following a police search at a Knoxville motel. Officials from the Knoxville Police Department's specialized units, including the Organized Crime Unit, Special Operations Squad, and Community Engagement Response Team, executed the search warrant last Friday at the Inn of Knoxville, based on information from an ongoing Drug-Related Death Task Force investigation, as reported by the Knoxville Police Department.
The raid, which also encompassed Johnson's vehicle parked at the N. Cherry Street location, yielded a significant cache of drugs and illegal possessions. Among the items confiscated were over 68 grams of suspected methamphetamine and various quantities of suspected heroin, cocaine, crack, and marijuana, as detailed by the Knoxville Police Department. Detained in the heavy find was also a stolen handgun and over $4,000 in cash.
Johnson's charges are numerous and weighty, encompassing multiple felony drug offenses in addition to possession of a stolen weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. "The Drug-Related Death Task investigation remains ongoing at this time," as stated by the Knoxville Police Department.
