Darrick Ashley Grider, a 44-year-old Knoxville man with a history of burglary convictions, has been found guilty of aggravated burglary. He broke into his cousin's home and stole money on August 8, 2022. Grider now faces a lengthy prison sentence without the possibility of parole, according to the District Attorney General.

During the trial, Assistant District Attorneys TaKisha Fitzgerald and Marissa Pecora presented evidence showing Grider's crime. Officer Charles Kuykendall responded to the burglary call and confirmed that Grider had broken in and searched the kitchen for cash. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Forensics Unit matched Grider's fingerprints at the scene, supporting the victim's testimony, as reported by the District Attorney General.

DA Charme Allen said, “This repeat offender will now serve at least a decade in prison for his most-recent home invasion.” Grider, with nine prior felony convictions, including three for aggravated burglary, faces a sentence of ten to fifteen years for his latest crime. Assistant Victim Witness Coordinator Sheri Burkett supported the prosecution, and Grider’s sentencing is scheduled for February 27, as stated by the District Attorney General.
