A 63-year-old woman's New Year's Day hike in the Hollywood Hills West turned from leisure to emergency when she sustained an injury that necessitated a rescue.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a call for assistance around 8:50 a.m. on the 1800 block of Curson Avenue, after the hiker suffered a non-life-threatening lower body injury, according to KTLA.
The nature of the terrain prompted the engagement of the LAFD's Air Operations team, who executed a hoist operation to transport the hiker to safety, as per the LAFD. Found near Wattles Garden Park, this Hollywood Hills West trail where the incident transpired is known for its scenic trails.
