According to News 3 LV, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported an incident around 6 p.m. where a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Owens Avenue, east of A Street, nearby the Salvation Army before fleeing eastbound.

In an attempt to escape following the event, while the vehicle was later found nearby at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Washington Avenue, parked. The victim, who was hit outside the Salvation Army, was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to fatal injuries.

The authorities took swift action upon finding the suspected vehicle, a 2006 Nissan Murano, unattended in the proximity of the scene. Police diligence paid off when they arrested 57-year-old Kurt Hatter, who was identified as the suspected driver.

According to FOX5 Vegas, "The pedestrian’s death marked the 8th traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2025." The LVMPD is continuing its investigation into the incident.
