The Licking County Board of Commissioners is clearing out what can be said to be their virtual attic. A set of items, finding themselves on the block, are deemed obsolete or unable to serve their function anymore. The sale comes by a decision that follows the guidelines outlined in the ORC Section 307.12, amended by HB 226 of the 124th General Assembly. This move mandates an annual resolution for selling off county-owned personal property that's no longer needed via internet auction, as detailed on a published notice from Licking County's website.
No need to show up with a paddle or a pocket full of cash. The affair is set to go digital, with the Licking County website acting as a conduit to the "Govdeals" commercial site. Potential buyers can browse listings – complete with photos and descriptions – of each item between the 1st and 15th of every month. However, the buyer is aware that the items are sold "as is, where is," as proclaimed by the County. And, it's up to the winning bidder to handle the extraction of their newfound goods from county premises within a tight window of 10 days post-purchase.
Before one dreams of scoring a piece of hulking machinery for a song, one might want to ensure they're ready to make an electronic funds transfer via Govdeals. The county requires full payment within five days following the auction's close. And they've clarified, "No property will be released until payment in full has been received by Licking County," according to Licking County's official website.
It's all by the book, or the legislative bill if we may, a somewhat procedural affair conducted under the watch of David Edelblute, Licking County administrator, if their auction notice is anything to go by. So if a piece of Licking County's unused or out-of-service property stirs a bit of that acquisitive spirit, one has to mark their calendars for a mid-month online shopping spree. Remember, it’s the onus of the winning bidder to whisk away their bargains. Good luck to the bargain hunters out there. May your internet connection be stable and your bids be savvy.
