A Long Beach man has been charged in the fatal shooting of his 64-year-old roommate, Tyrone Crawford, officials said. The incident, which took place in the 3000 block of Gold Star Drive, was initially reported as a possible suicide on Tuesday morning, according to KTLA.

Responding officers arrived at the scene shortly before 9 a.m., where they found Crawford with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite the Long Beach Fire Department paramedics' efforts, Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene, as detailed by authorities. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Trayen Gaston, was on location when officers arrived. He was taken into custody for the ongoing investigation. The Long Beach Police Department later discovered evidence indicating Gaston was responsible for Crawford's death.

Gaston faces charges that include one count of murder, one count of prohibited possessor in possession of a firearm, and one count of prohibited possessor in possession of ammunition.
