The Long Beach community is on high alert following two assaults that occurred earlier this week, involving a man described as a rape suspect. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) has issued an appeal for public assistance to identify the individual responsible for these violent acts. According to KTLA, the first attack happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday near West 10th Street and Pacific Avenue, where a woman was sexually assaulted. The suspect then fled on foot, heading north on Pacific Avenue.

The LBPD believes the same man later approached another woman around 9 a.m. the same day, striking her in the upper body on Long Beach Boulevard. Described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 8 to 9 inches tall, weighing between 180 and 200 pounds with medium-length dreads and facial hair, the police are urgently asking anyone with information to come forward.

As the investigation continues, LBPD has also released safety tips for residents to better protect themselves. These include being observant of one's surroundings, trusting personal instincts and adhering to the "See Something, Say Something" principle. The department stresses the importance of walking in well-lit, populated areas at night, preferably with a companion.

Residents have been reminded by police that anyone who spots the suspect should to immediately call 9-1-1. The LBPD Sex Crimes Detail can be contacted at (562) 570-7368 by those who may possess information relevant to the suspect or the crimes.
