Long Beach has seen a flurry of police activity regarding firearms over the last couple of days. Early in the morning on January 12, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were called to the 2400 Block of Linden Avenue due to reports of gunfire. Officers found evidence of a shooting, though, fortunately, no one was reported to have been injured. The details concerning the suspects and the motivations behind the incident remain unclear, as the LBPD continues to investigate.

The LBPD had more success in recovering illegal firearms on January 11. During a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue at around 10:11 p.m., officers were able to safely remove two guns and apprehend the suspects. In a separate incident earlier that day, at around 4:18 p.m., officers likewise recovered two firearms from an individual at the corner of Anaheim Street and Dawson Avenue during a pedestrian check. The individual was identified to be a prohibited possessor and was promptly arrested.

These incidents reflect an ongoing struggle to keep illegally possessed guns off the streets. "Great work officers! Overnight, officers safely took found guns off the street," praised an update from the LBPD, recognizing the importance of such operations in ensuring the safety of Long Beach residents.
