The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued warnings for several local beaches, urging visitors to avoid swimming and surfing due to high bacterial levels. According to the County of Los Angeles, the advisories affect popular spots such as Zuma Beach, Santa Monica Beach, and Marina Del Rey's Mothers Beach.
Health officials are focusing on areas where contaminants flow into the ocean, including Zuma Creek, the Castlerock Storm Drain at Topanga County Beach, and near the Santa Monica Pier. Entire swim areas, like Inner Cabrillo Beach and Mothers Beach, are also under warning, with cautionary flags urging beachgoers to stay out of the water due to high bacterial levels, as per the County of Los Angeles.
Beach condition updates are available 24/7 on the County’s beach closure hotline at 1-800-525-5662. For a map of affected areas and more information, visit PublicHealth.LACounty.gov/Beach.
