The Louisiana Air National Guard witnessed a significant leadership transition earlier this month as Lt. Col. Jesse L. Hasenkampf was officially appointed as the commander of the 159th Maintenance Group (MXG) and concurrently promoted to colonel. This change of command and promotion ceremony took place at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans on January 11, according to an official release from the Louisiana National Guard's website.
Prior to his latest command, Hasenkampf has faithfully served in the Louisiana Air National Guard, starting his career as a security forces journeyman. His dedication and performance led him to be selected as an officer candidate for the 159th Fighter Wing. He went on to quickly rise through the ranks after his commissioning from the Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee, in 2006, where he earned distinguished graduate honors. His journey has now culminated in a new role as he assumes to fully embrace the responsibilities that come with the command of the 159th MXG.
Hasenkampf's experience is marked by an impressive track record including a stint as an F-15 pilot. After graduating from the F-15 Basic Qualification Course at Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base, Oregon, in 2008, he was assigned to the 122nd Fighter Squadron. His service record is decorated with several leadership positions, with his previous assignments being as diverse as serving as the 159th Fighter Wing's executive officer and holding multiple squadron command positions.
The distinction of Hasenkampf's career is recognized by his peers and the institution alike. His promotion alongside taking command is seen as a testament to his leadership qualities and operational expertise. As he steps into his new position, Colonel Hasenkampf will be tasked to further realize the potential of the Maintenance Group and to ensure that the 159th remains a pivotal element of the Louisiana Air National Guard's mission readiness. His past assignments have seemingly prepared him to strategically navigate the dynamic challenges that will no doubt emerge in his tenure as commander.
