A man was taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department after attempting to attack two employees with a knife in a Northwest business establishment. The incident unfolded last Wednesday, around 9 p.m., when the suspect entered a store located in the 1700 block of Corcoran Street, an area he had previously been barred from, according to a report by the Metropolitan Police.
Upon recognizing the individual, an employee quickly notified a security guard. The guard proceeded to escort the suspect out of the facility, only to find himself, along with the employee, under direct threat. The man drew a weapon—a knife—and tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to stab both the employee and the security guard before fleeing the scene.
After a brief investigation yesterday, police arrested 26-year-old Warran Welcome from Northwest, D.C., without any reported injuries resulting from his earlier attempted assault. The Metropolitan Police Department's website released a statement detailing that Welcome is now facing charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
