Tragedy befell the streets of Philadelphia's Tioga-Nicetown section early Monday morning when a man riding an electric bike was struck by a vehicle. The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of North Broad Street and West Erie Avenue at around 2 a.m., as reported by 6abc. Police say the driver involved in the collision stopped at the scene and is currently cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Officials believe the incident occurred when the man crossed Broad Street from the west side to the east side against a red light. Police identified the victim as Michael Buie of North Philadelphia, as detailed by NBC Philadelphia.
According to FOX 29, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
