An early morning blaze has left a local Marysville business in ruins. The Honey Barn Décor Boutique was engulfed in flames around the dawn hours of Monday. According to CBS Sacramento, firefighters arrived at the intersection of Fourth and D streets, only to find the beloved boutique already consumed by the fire. Despite efforts to quickly control the situation, the store was declared "completely destroyed."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with city officials and first responders on scene working to understand the origins of the fire. No physical injuries were reported, as per CBS Sacramento. However, the emotional and financial impact on business owner Melissa Swink and the Marysville community is significant. Swink had dedicated years of effort to stock the boutique with home decor and women's clothing, making it an integral part of the small town.
The owner of Honey Barn Décor, affected by the loss, has stated her intention to rebuild. "For the past two and half years I worked every day to bring home decor, candles, woman’s clothing and charm to the community," Swink said in a statement obtained by FOX40 News. "Now that I (have) been faced with (the) tragedy of losing my dream my little store, I want to rebuild, restore, and bring more love back into the town," she added with resolve.
In an effort to recover what was lost in the fire, a GoFundMe account has been set up for community support. Swink's words convey a sense of hope: "I want to bring this back but just need help from any of you that can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart," she told FOX40 News.
The Honey Barn Décor Boutique was located at 331 D Street, just blocks from another historic site, the Hotel Marysville, which was also damaged by a fire earlier in June. These incidents have raised concerns about security and safety within the community, highlighting the frequency of fires in the area.
