A Memphis butcher shop manager engaged in a violent confrontation with suspects accused of shoplifting food during a recent robbery incident. According to Action News 5, the manager, whose identity has not been disclosed, followed three men who were allegedly pushing a cart full of stolen food from Gordin’s Food and Butcher Shoppe on January 10. The confrontation escalated when one of the suspects threatened the manager and shots were fired, leading to the manager's hospitalization in critical condition.

Dustin Fultz, 22, was one of the individuals arrested in connection with the crime. Fultz has been charged with theft of property, aggravated assault, and robbery, as reported by WREG. His arrest followed a police response to a call around 11:15 a.m. at the Gordin’s Foods & Butcher Shoppe. Fultz, who was found on the scene by the Memphis Police, admitted to the role in the shoplifting incident which involved his brother, and a friend, as well as a physical altercation with the victim who managed to recover the cart of stolen goods worth approximately $200.

The altercation turned violent when a man, identified by police as 33-year-old Robby Wooten, emerged from a getaway van with a handgun, fired a shot into the air, and threatened to kill the store manager. In the ensuing mayhem, "The manager’s leg gave out and he fell on the ground and then pulled out his gun," as Action News 5 reported. Wooten was later found in critical condition and taken to Regional One Hospital after being shot. Additionally, he faces charges that include aggravated assault and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Two 17-year-old boys were also charged in connection with the incident. Their roles have been described by FOX13 Memphis as part of the group that attempted to leave with the stolen food from the grocery store. The bonds for the teens were not disclosed. Presently, Wooten is still receiving medical treatment and has not yet been booked into jail due to his condition.

WREG reached out to Gordin’s Foods & Butcher Shoppe for comment, but "We were told the owner has no comment," the outlet conveyed.
