
The start of 2025 brought resolution for several unsolved package thefts in Germantown, as local law enforcement agencies joined forces to arrest 28-year-old Memphis resident Jeremy Rooker. Rooker was detained on New Year's Day, bringing closure to a series of property thefts that had left Germantown residents on edge. Charged with seven counts of theft of property, Rooker faces serious consequences for his alleged holiday spoilage.
Germantown Police Department's Special Enforcement Team, Investigations Division, and SWAT, demonstrated an impressive display of coordination with the Memphis Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force to track down and apprehend the suspect. The arrest not only netted Rooker but also led to the recovery of a stolen 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, which had been reported missing since November 27. The case remains active, signaling that, additional charges could be on the horizon for Rooker, according to Germantown officials.
In their report, Germantown Police thanked adjoining law enforcement units including the Appling Farms Task Force for their "invaluable support and partnership" in this investigation. The teamwork exhibited by different departments highlights the ongoing efforts to curb property crimes that frequently mar the festive season.
