Saturday night, however, forecasts predict showers after midnight entering the scene with 80 percent chance of precipitation and possible rain amounts measuring between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. The real shift occurs on Sunday with showers that could escalate into thunderstorms, particularly between noon and 3 pm, paired with potentially heavy rainfall. "Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall," the NWS statement warned, foreseeing new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches.
Heading into the new week, Memphis will see a drop in temperatures. Sunday night's chances of showers taper off before midnight, leading into what the NWS describe as a blustery night, with lows plummeting to around 26 degrees, and gusts that could reach as high as 30 mph. Monday follows suit with a partly sunny forecast and a high near 33, while strong north northwest winds continue to make their presence felt, gusting as much as 30 mph. Monday night will likely bring the mercury further down with a low around 22 degrees.
Temperatures will continue hovering around the freezing point as the week advances. Tuesday offers mostly sunny skies with a high nearing 32, preceding a partly cloudy night and a low around 19. The consistency in the weather pattern is evident, as Wednesday and Thursday are both expected to serve up mostly sunny days with highs near 30 and 33 degrees respectively, while nights remain mostly clear with lows closely hugging the upper teens.
