Mesa's Falcon Field Airport Completes Significant Anzio Ramp Upgrade to Boost Local Aviation InfrastructureSource: City of Mesa

Falcon Field Airport, located in Mesa, has completed a notable upgrade with the reconstruction of the Anzio Ramp. The work, which began in August 2024 and concluded with the final paint application on Dec. 24, was aimed at bolstering the infrastructure in line with current FAA guidelines. The renovation, covered financially by an Arizona Department of Transportation grant, means enhanced airport facilities meeting today's aviation demands, as reported by Mesa Now.

Improvements were sorely needed, evident by the ramp’s low Pavement Condition Index score of 51 prior to the renovation, an indicator of its poor state. With an investment of $577,759, Woolpert, Inc. undertook the design engineering, Neve Construction the building, and the City of Mesa Engineering Department managed the construction. Alongside the ramp’s revamp, a new aircraft tie-down position has sprung up, with two more expected to follow, serving the community including entities like Rango Inc., Allen Air 2, LLC, and Together at the Landing.

Airport efficiency and growth are both on the flight path to improvement, with Corinne Nystrom, the airport's director, expressing pride in the accomplishment. "The completion of the Anzio Ramp reconstruction is a noteworthy achievement for our airport," Nystrom told Mesa Now. She elaborated on the importance of the update for the airport's continuous service to its base and the enabling of future advances.
