The National Weather Service in Milwaukee issued a not-so-sunny announcement of chilly temperatures and the possibility of light snow in the region this evening into tonight, which could make for some slippery commutes. As folks in Milwaukee brace themselves against the frosty air, they're looking at a stark 1°F (-17°C) with humidity at a reasonable 65%.
This morning greeted Milwaukee with a frigid embrace, and a wind chill of a biting -9°F (-23°C). NWS Milwaukee warns that increasing clouds will bring a high near 21 later today, but wind chills will hover between -10 and zero—so bundle up, and think twice before you leave those gloves at home. Tonight, there's a 20% chance of precipitation with a slight chance of snow flurries before the midnight oil burns too long, possibly causing, troublesome conditions on the roadways.
But not all is bleak, as the weekend forecast, brings a change in temperament. Tomorrow should shine mostly sunny with a benign high near 34, and a west wind 10 to 15 mph. The upcoming week promises an unremarkable swing between partly cloudy nights, and sunny, or at least mostly sunny, days with temperatures gently climbing up to nearly 39 on Monday. It appears that at least for now, the city's burghers will have reprieve from the more treacherous aspects of wintery displeasure.
In a light of optimism, the Hazardous Weather Outlook for east central, south central, and southeast Wisconsin indicates no worrisome atmospheric antics slated to unfold in the days following tonight's snow flirtations. NWS reassures that "No hazardous weather is expected at this time," from tomorrow through Thursday, leaving Wisconsinites to their idle concerns, like whether to don that second layer of thermal wear. Spotters, those keen-eyed citizens who assist in the meteorological vigil, will find their services unrequired in the coming week.
