Local authorities report that a child found wandering the streets of Euclid this morning has been safely reunited with his family. The Euclid Police Department discovered the young boy alone near East 236th Street and Westport Avenue, prompting concerns for his well-being in the cold. Following the discovery, police posted the child's picture on social media in an appeal to help locate his parents. According to Cleveland19, the child was located around 8 a.m., and his family was found shortly thereafter.
The Euclid Police, attentive to the situation's urgency, housed the child at the police station, where he awaited familial reunion. "The child appears well cared for and is in good spirits," Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer reiterated in a statement obtained by FOX8. 19 News has reached out to Euclid police for additional information, but further details regarding how the child ended up alone have not yet been forthcoming.
To assist with reunification, the Euclid Police Department also requested the public's assistance through a plea from News 5 Cleveland. The call to identify the young boy and locate his family was made with haste, as the boy was deemed too young to provide a name or other identifying details that could have expedited the process.
In a fortuitous turn of events, the family was successfully located by the police shortly after 10 a.m. "Chief Meyer says the child’s family was found shortly after 10 a.m.," according to FOX8. The swift response of the Euclid police and the aiding hands of the community ensured a quick resolution to an incident that might otherwise have extended into more profound cold and longer fear.
