The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) has recently deployed funds amounting to nearly $3.4 million with the intent of enhancing the biofuel infrastructure within Missouri. This investment zeros in on the construction, modification, or overhaul of fuel pumps, storage tanks, and additional infrastructure that facilitates the distribution and use of elevated blends of ethanol and biodiesel across the state.
In a move that nods to partnership, MASBDA Executive Director Jill Wood shared, "We are pleased to partner with Missouri Soybean and Missouri Corn to increase the availability of biofuels in Missouri," according to Agriculture.Mo.Gov. Wood underlined that these initiatives are not only poised to surge demand for prominent Missouri crops but also avail consumers more fuel choices. The financial backing was made available courtesy of the Missouri General Assembly and it addresses expenses incurred amidst the enhancement of fuel dispensing infrastructure located within the state.
Funding recipients for this program encompass a variety of entities, from MFA Oil Company in Palmyra to Scotland Co. Missouri County Government in Memphis. Each beneficiary reflects a shared goal – to escalate the availability of biodiesel blends B6 or higher within the state's marketplace. Similarly, entities such as Scrivener Oil Company and InConvenience Inc. are set to broaden the accessibility of ethanol blends, including E15 or higher and E85, with an aim of bolstering ecological fuel choices for Missouri's drivers.
Missouri Corn Growers Association President Matt Lambert praised the program, highlighting that, "We are excited to work with our partners to incentivize additional biofuel retail locations across the state and provide drivers with increased access to homegrown fuels," and noted the accomplishment despite the legislative difficulties faced in the 2024 session. "Given the 2024 legislative session's challenges, successfully securing BIIP funding is a testament to the value Missouri agriculture brings to the state's economy," Lambert told Agriculture.Mo.Gov. This initiative symbolizes the continued stride towards fostering the use of biofuels in Missouri, manifesting in stronger markets for local farmers and more cost-efficient fuel choices for consumers.
