
Early Friday morning, Van Nuys became the site of a significant multi-vehicle accident involving a Metro bus and at least two cars, resulting in a response from emergency services and impacts on local traffic. According to the FOX 11 report, the collision occurred just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Raymer Street. The crash saw a large turnout of first responders, as captured in images from SkyFOX, with all southbound lanes shut down during the investigation.
The NBC Los Angeles coverage states that at least four individuals were involved in the unfortunate event. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that two victims were hospitalized, with one sustaining critical injuries and the others suffering minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The bus in question numbered 234, was en route to Sherman Oaks' Galleria at the time of the incident.
Two of the involved parties declined medical transport to the hospital, their identities remain unknown at the moment. As the investigation unfolded, at least a lane near the crash site reopened to mitigate some of the traffic disruptions caused by the extensive emergency presence and closures.
Further details from the Los Angeles Fire Department's alert confirmed the number of patients and the extent of their injuries. "A total of four patients, two transporting to the hospital (one in serious condition, one with minor, non-life threatening injuries) and two patients declined LAFD transport," the statement read. The Los Angeles Police Department was involved in the investigation listing the incident under LAPD Inc# 0666.
