On Friday evening, the streets of Huntersville turned treacherous, leading to a series of vehicle crashes along Beatties Ford Road, one of them resulting in serious injuries. Huntersville Fire Department reported an occupant was trapped within their vehicle after the initial crash near Sample Road and Latta Nature Preserve. "One person was pinned inside the vehicle," stated Huntersville Fire in an update shared by WBTV.
Following the arrival of emergency crews around 5:15 p.m., a second collision occurred just behind a firetruck at the scene, with a third crash materializing shortly thereafter. The injured individual from the first accident was eventually extricated and rushed to Novant Health Presbyterian with life-threatening injuries, as QC News reported. In the aftermath of the pileups, no injuries were reported from the latter two collisions.
Traffic on Beatties Ford Road was snarled for hours as first responders addressed the exigencies and Duke Energy crews toiled to repair power lines compromised in the mayhem. An official from Huntersville Fire sounded the alarm on the perilous road conditions, describing Beatties Ford as "very slick," as temperatures plummeted into the 20s. Motorists were advised to shun the area for their safety. "Huntersville Fire shuts down slick road due to multiple crashes," read the headline from WSOCTV, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
